Department of Financial Studies(UDSC)

The Department offers a two-year (full-time) Master of Finance and Control (MFC) Programme besides a Ph D Programme.
The two years (full-time) Master of Finance and Control (MFC) Programme is a pioneering professional programme of its kind in India. It aims at training high quality management professionals in the areas of investment management, international finance, financial services, funds management, financial derivatives, banking and corporate finance. Admissions to the Programme are made on the basis of an All-India Admission Test followed by Group Discussions and Personal Interviews.  The announcement for the Admission Test is made in national dailies in the month of October/November every year for the next batch. The admissions to the XXIII batch starting from July 16, 2009 have already been completed.
The Department has its Campus Placement Cell, which has been very active since the inception of the MFC Programme in 1987. The MFC students of the previous batches secured excellent placements in leading organizations. Some of the companies which have participated in Final Placements include: HLL, SBI Capital Markets Ltd., Jones Lang Lassalle, Citibank, Essar Group, Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd., IDBI, Proctor and Gamble, HSBC, SBI, Capital Markets, SEBI, JP Morgan Stanely. The Department also offers a Ph D Programme.  Admissions to the programme are made in accordance with the rules of the University. The current research interests of the Department are on issues in international accounting; e-Commerce; Foreign Investment Fronts Tax Planning, stock market efficiency, mutual funds management, asset pricing theories, financial reporting practices etc.  Some of the members are also working on major research projects funded by the U.G.C. The Department has been recognized by the U.G.C. under its SAP programme at the level of DSA.
The Department organizes an Annual Convention on a contemporary theme every year.  In addition, it also organizes seminars/workshops symposia on subjects of topical interest.  Special lectures both from academicians and industry professionals are held regularly.  Details in this regard are available at the website http://www.mfc.edu.
