Zakir Husain College has always stood steadfast as a champion of some basic values which have acquired greater relevance in contemporary times. The college in its long history of 300 years has accommodated students and faculty of different communities. Gradually it has evolved a culture of understanding and respect for difference of caste, creed and religion.
Education for us in this college is not a mere pursuit of information: what we strive for is a holistic development of character with a commitment to building a strong knowledge base. For this, our teachers, students and employees work together in close association. Not only does the college uphold traditional values of courtesy and regard for the older and the weak, there is also a sensitive concern for justice and a sense of fairness. As a result there is an atmosphere of good cheer rather than stress on the campus. In deed and spirit we “live by love”.
Creativity is encouraged and a high standard of arts and culture is maintained year after year. Physical fitness and sports too are not allowed to take a back seat in the college. Student of this college are encouraged to have a scientific temper, a progressive outlook and a grounding in humanistic values.
We have a firm belief that a healthy physique is essential for a healthy mind. We feel that our students should take a healthy and balanced diet and avoid junk food. We have declared our campus “PAAN MASALA, GUTKA and TOBACCO FREE”.
To have a refreshing and green environ on the campus we work hard. It is not a matter of sheer chance that we bag a number of prizes each year at the Delhi University Flower Show. Our students are expected to protect and maintain this green heritage. These traditional Indian values, along with the excellent academic inputs, would definitely help you all blossom into a true human being.

The 'System Safety Engineering' this year was a problem posed to the participating teams to suggest a design for tackling the menacing 'moon dust' problem, which occurs during 'day-time' on the surface of the moon caused by cosmic rays & solar winds.
The judges were extremely appreciative of the efforts made by this team, and are looking forward to seeing the Kirori Mal College team again next year with a new/improved design.

Department of Business Economics(UDSC)
The two-year full-time programme in Business Economics is designed to meet the growing need for an analytical and quantitative approach to problem solving in the changing corporate world by the application of the latest techniques evolved in the fields of Economics and Management. A thoroughly revised syllabus for Masters in Business Economics (M.B.E) has been in place since 1996-1997. New papers on Global Finance, Business Policy, Environment Economics and Resource Management and Economics of Services have been included. In view of the changing business environment, the Department is in the process of revising the syllabus of the course. All students joining the course are required to undergo summer training for 6-8 weeks to put their theoretical concepts into practice. The interface of application-oriented programmes with the world of Business and Industry is further strengthened by weekly seminars, an Annual Convention, Industry Seminar in which students present papers before the members of the faculty and experts from the industry. The Department also arranges an Annual Convention every year wherein India’s business and trade relations with a selected country are discussed. The Department offers M Phil and Ph D programmes to which admissions are made in accordance with the rules of the University of Delhi.
The Department has introduced, with effect from 1995-96, an under-graduate Honours Course in Business Economics in selected colleges of the University of Delhi. An updated syllabus has been implemented from the academic year 2003. Workshops are organised to strengthen the teaching.
The current research interests of the Department include, Business Policy, Industry Studies, Regional Economic Development, Environmental Economics, Foreign Trade, Macro Economic, Policies, International Finance and International Marketing.
The Department arranges summer training and the final placement of students in industrial and commercial houses and reputed research organizations.

Department of Biocphysics(UDSC)
The Department offers a Ph D Programme in Biophysics. It also participates in the M Phil (Biotechnology) Programme. The main research emphasis of the Department is in the area of theoretical biology and membrane biophysics, in particular ion channels and neurobiophysics. A special emphasis is given on learning, memory and computational neuroscience. The Department is equipped with electrophysiological set up (patch clamp and bilayer systems), which are the most sensitive tools to study such channels. The experimental work is supported by extensive mathematical and computational analysis, e.g. Mathematical modelling, Neural Network. Other areas of active research in the Department are: enzymatic modulation of ion channel, e.g. phosphorylation, biological spectroscopy.
